Harry Kane to receive Golden Shoe | OneFootball

Europe’s goalscoring crown is heading back to FC Bayern – thanks to record-breaker Harry Kane. The Golden Shoe award for the top scorer in the whole of Europe is going to the Bavarians’ star striker for the second time for the 2025/26 season, following his success in 2024. Kane joins an exclusive list of players who have won the Golden Shoe twice – only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have achieved it more times. The presentation of the trophy will take place at the FC Bayern Museum on 19 August. The England captain posted 36 Bundesliga goals in another hugely impressive campaign – the same number that earned him the award two years ago. Kane is also seen as one of the leading contenders in this year’s vote for The Best FIFA Men's Player.

Kane scored a total of 73 goals in 65 competitive appearances for club and country over the past season, as well as setting up eight. With that he registered the second-highest goal tally in a single season in the 21st century – only Messi in the 2011/12 campaign scored more. His goals were vital to FC Bayern winning the league, Franz Beckenbauer Supercup and DFB Cup – he netted a hat-trick in the cup final in Berlin and was the top scorer in the competition. The 33-year-old was also crowned Bundesliga top goalscorer for the third year in a row, and finished second in the Champions League scoring chart in 2025/26. Kane is also the fastest player ever to reach 100 goals for a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

As captain of the England national team, Kane led his country to their best finish at a World Cup since 1966 with crucial goals in qualifying and during the tournament. The Three Lions’ record goalscorer is now also the most prolific British player in World Cup history and has scored more goals at the last four major tournaments than any other European player. Moreover, he’s the only player besides Cristiano Ronaldo to have scored 20 or more goals at both the World Cup and European Championship. In the all-time World Cup goalscorers ranking, Kane now occupies fifth place. Off the pitch, too, he’s making a big impact. With his charity, the Harry Kane Foundation, he works with leading charity organisations to promote awareness of mental health.

Kane is the third Bayern player to be given this prestigious award after Gerd Müller, who won the Golden Shoe in 1970 and 1972, and Robert Lewandowski, who received it in 2021 and 2022 – and he too has now achieved it for the second time. The honour was managed by French sports newspaper L'Équipe between 1968 and 1991. Since 1997, the European Sports Media (ESM) association – with kicker taking the lead – has carried out the award. This year, FC Bayern, the Bundesliga and kicker are once again jointly hosting the event at the FC Bayern Museum in the Allianz Arena. In addition to Gerd Müller and Lewandowski, the trophy has been won by exceptional players such as Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Francesco Totti, Thierry Henry, Ronaldo, Marco van Basten, Hristo Stoichkov and Eusébio. Former Bayern strikers Roy Makaay and Luca Toni also feature on this illustrious list, albeit as players for Deportivo La Coruña and Fiorentina respectively.
