England picked up a 3-0 win over Senegal last night and while there were a host of impressive performances, Harry Maguire’s was one of the best of the lot.
The Manchester United skipper has been quite good throughout the tournament, as he impressed in the group stages and he put in a dominating performance against the African outfit too. While he didn’t score a goal, the United defender was key helping England build from the back and recover the ball.
As per FIFA, Maguire executed 20 line-breaking actions – the second best in the game behind Luke Shaw. He was successful with 15 of those actions, with 19 of the attempted actions being line-breaking passes.
He regained possession four times, the third-best in the game and as per FBRef, he was second-best for the Three Lions when it comes to progressive passes as he made five of them.
These are definitely good times for Maguire and it is a big positive for England, who take on France next.
