Harry Redknapp has picked his best 11 performers from the weekend’s action.
The Premier League team of the weekend that has most impressed him.
Included in his top 11 are three stand out from Newcastle United players.
A trio who in Harry’s opinion contributed so much to the very deserved victory over Arsenal.
Harry Redknapp explaining to BetVictor why he chose these Newcastle United stars amongst his Premier League team of the week:
What a massive win that was for Southampton against Everton, Aaron Ramsdale was vital in goal. He’s always been a very good keeper and was a little unfortunate at Arsenal. He seems a good character as well, and that’s vital in a relegation fight. Those three points have given them a bit of life.
Speaking of big wins, that was massive for Newcastle against Arsenal. Both the full-backs were absolutely brilliant, and they both get in my side. I’ve always liked Tino Livramento, and he seems to be getting better and better. He’s got a great turn of pace, and he cruised through the game against Gabriel Martinelli.
Bournemouth were brilliant against Manchester City and yet again, Marcos Senesi was a rock at the back. He really does go under the radar, but what a good defender he is. Milos Kerkez at left-back was excellent too but I’m picking Senesi for the defence. He wins every ball that comes his way and is decent on the ball too.
Nottingham Forest are flying, and a lot of that is built on that strong defence of theirs; Murillo gets in my side this week. Nikola Milenkovic alongside him has been a brilliant signing, they’ve formed such a good partnership. Chris Wood is getting a lot of the praise right now for his goals, but the defence has been crucial.
England are crying out for a young left-back and Lewis Hall could be the answer. He’s taken a little bit of time to really settle at Newcastle, but he’s been terrific of late and was superb against Arsenal. Bukayo Saka is one of the best wingers in world football but he stuck to his job and didn’t give much away. I was very impressed.
What a goal, what a player, Mohamed Salah. There’s not much more to say about him, Liverpool must do everything they can to keep him. I know he’s getting older, but he keeps himself in fantastic shape and looks almost good as ever for them this season.
Bruno Guimaraes ran the game in midfield for Newcastle. Now he’s got the armband, he really does lead and inspire his side. He’s a master of controlling the tempo of the game and very rarely wastes a ball when he has it. He’s one of the best midfielders in the country.
Alongside him is another Brazilian in Joao Gomes, he was superb for Wolves. He’s another player that maybe some people haven’t paid enough attention to, he looks a very, very good player. He’s got a bit of everything in his game, and he doesn’t stop running.
Let’s be clear, there was no fluke about that Bournemouth win, if anything it could have been more. What a handful Antoine Semenyo was. He took his goal brilliantly and could have had more. His pace and quality on the ball caused so many problems. Bournemouth are on fire right now.
My Player of the Week is Dominic Solanke, a brilliant performance. I actually think he’s been playing very well this season without getting the goals to go with his performances, that changed here! He took his two goals very well and that should give him and his teammates so much confidence going forward. He seems to suit this team very well.
Adam Armstrong popped up with such a big goal for Southampton, for that alone he has to be in the side. He took his goal very well as well, that’s a much harder finish than he made it look. He’s always been a very good finisher.
Manager of the week – It can only be Andoni Iraola, what an amazing few weeks for Bournemouth. Arsenal and City at home? Easy work! He’s doing a terrific job, and I’m surprised he doesn’t seem to be getting linked to some of these bigger jobs, let’s keep it that way.
