Head coach Adi Hütter, captain Robin Koch and goalkeeper Noah Atubolu share their thoughts after the 2-2 draw against SC Freiburg.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “We would have liked to come away with more, but I have to be honest and say I’m satisfied with the point because our performance wasn’t good enough. If you want to beat a strong Freiburg side, you can’t play like that. There was a spell when we could have scored a third, but towards the end we were also lucky to come away with a point. Freiburg were well organised and won pretty much every second ball. The things we did well in Mainz didn’t come off for us this time – we were too spread out. Freiburg were more compact and sharper as a unit, and that was something we were lacking. That’s why we have to be satisfied with the point.” 

Robin Koch: “We didn’t produce our best performance against a side that are in very good form at the moment. In the end, a point is a fair result. Even so, there’s still room for improvement in our game. Against Mainz, we won a lot of second balls and played with a lot of aggression. We didn’t manage to do that to the same extent against Freiburg.”

Noah Atubolu: “If we’re being completely honest, we didn’t play particularly well in the first half. Even so, we went into the break ahead, which we could count ourselves fortunate about. Our clear aim was to take all three points and get our first home win. In the end, we only got one, so it’s hard to know how to feel about the result. We need to analyse the game and see what we can do better.”
