Burnley boss Nicky Hayen has confirmed Dastan Satpayev will be sidelined for “a few weeks” with a hamstring injury.
The Chelsea loanee missed Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Bristol City after being forced off late in the midweek game against Middlesbrough.
“Yes, he will be out for a few weeks, unfortunately,” Hayen said.
“He had a pre-season but not a proper pre-season. We try to push players, try to protect them, and you just have to find that really good balance.”
Burnley were handed another concern when Hannibal received treatment after coming on as a late substitute against Bristol City.
“You saw Hannibal having a small injury and this is the situation now,” Hayen added.
“If you don’t have the fitness, we don’t have to blame anyone. It’s just the situation how it is.”
Lucas Pires is expected to return from concussion for Tuesday’s trip to Wrexham, but Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Josh Cullen, Enock Agyei, Jaydon Banel and Ashley Barnes remain sidelined.
Hayen also explained that Marcus Edwards and Mike Tresor were omitted against Bristol City while the club finalises its 25-man EFL squad.
“We have two spots open for positions that we want to fill, but they can still make the 25-man squad list,” he said. “We just have to see what is the best decision.”
