A striking mural of Jude Bellingham has appeared on a disused building beside the A454 in Lower Horsley Fields, Wolverhampton, painted yesterday afternoon by local artist Lucy Danielle.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 35-year-old used spray paint and emulsion to brighten the area and salute one of England’s premier players, depicting the Stourbridge-born midfielder celebrating in his England shirt.
She said she sought permission from the building’s owners and then set to work, attracting passers-by who stopped to watch. She added that the reaction had been overwhelmingly positive.
Danielle estimated the piece took around seven or eight hours. She said the toughest element was managing how the paint behaved in the heat, and a passer-by handed her water as temperatures rose.
The Wolverhampton artist, who has been spray painting for around 21 years, described Bellingham as a Black Country-born hero and said the tribute felt fitting. She added that future work could depend on how England fare at the World Cup.
