Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has revealed that Manchester City’s Marc Guehi visited his former club’s training ground on a day off this week.

Guehi joined Manchester City from Crystal Palace for £20 million in January on a five-and-a-half-year deal to bolster Pep Guardiola‘s ranks amidst a personnel crisis in defence.

The 25-year-old had come close to joining Liverpool last summer before talks broke down, with Manchester City ultimately agreeing a deal with Palace for the Chelsea academy graduate midway through the recent January window.

“Everything I wanted” – Marc Guehi loving Manchester City life after failed Liverpool transfer

Glasner: It was good to see Guehi back

Guehi and the Manchester City squad were given two days off after their rampant 4-0 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final last weekend – and the former Crystal Palace captain used his time off to pay a visit to Crystal Palace’s training facilities.

“Marc Guehi had a day off at Manchester City on Monday so he visited the training ground,” said Palace boss Oliver Glasner this week, as quoted by football reporter Bobby Manzi on X.

“It’s a good sign players who left Palace are always enjoying coming back and visiting. We had a chat, he (Guehi) had lunch with us.”

How has Guehi adapted to life at Man City?

The England international has made an impressive start to life at the Etihad Stadium, speaking glowingly about his opening months in the north-west after the win over Liverpool – having seamlessly integrated into Pep Guardiola’s star-studded backline.

He started alongside Abdukodir Khusanov against the Reds on Saturday afternoon, helping the Blues keep a clean sheet in another assured defensive display as City booked a record eighth consecutive FA Cup semi-final appearance.

Guehi’s arrival has softened the blow of the expected summer departures of John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake – all of whom are set to leave the Etihad Stadium when their respective contracts expire at the end of the season.

The Ivory Coast-born star’s adaptation to Guardiola’s system has given director of football Hugo Viana reason for considerable encouragement as City’s rebuild takes shape in other areas of the pitch in the summer.
