Mathys Tel was never able to make a lasting impression at FC Bayern – now his advisor is talking about a possible return. But how realistic is a comeback to Säbener Straße really?
The 20-year-old was long regarded as one of the most exciting attacking talents in Europe, but failed to make a breakthrough at the German record champions. Following his permanent signing from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, Tel hoped for a fresh start – but so far without the hoped-for effect
The statements made by his advisor Gadiri Camara make you sit up and take notice: „A return to Bayern is the only way for Mathys to come back to Germany,“ he explained in an interview with tz. At the same time, he emphasized: „He loves FC Bayern.“
A clear signal – and at the same time a remarkable restriction, because a move to another Bundesliga club seems to be out of the question for Tel. If he were to return to Germany, then apparently only to Munich

As emotional as the connection to FC Bayern may be, there is currently little sporting argument for a return. Four scoring points in 31 competitive games at Tottenham are not arguments that are likely to generate enthusiasm at Säbener Straße
Added to this is the current structure of the Munich squad. There is enormous competition in attack, with players such as Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Díaz making their mark on the game. Young talents such as Lennart Karl are also pushing forward
A new start for Tel would only make sense if he clearly had better prospects of playing time – and that is exactly what is currently difficult to imagine
Although there could be some movement in the squad in the summer, especially if loan players such as Nicolas Jackson leave the club, Bayern are currently pursuing a clear strategy: targeted reinforcements instead of bringing back players with no added sporting value
Tel would therefore not only have to impress emotionally, but above all take a clear step forward in sporting terms in order to become a serious option again
According to transfer insider Ben Jacobs, Tel would like to take a close look at his future after the season, and staying at Tottenham is currently considered rather unlikely
However, it remains to be seen whether this will result in a Bayern comeback.
