Ewen Jaouen (19) has revealed that he is working with a former commando, who fought in Afghanistan, in order to help him with his mental preparation.
Jaouen excelled last season between the sticks on loan at USL Dunkerque and returned to parent club Stade de Reims over the summer. He is once again featuring prominently in Ligue 2, and his performances have earned him a call-up to the France U21 squad.
However, earlier this week, he took part in training with France’s senior side. He was part of the shot-stopping exercise and his height was noted by Christopher Nkunku. “He’s four metres tall,” joked the AC Milan forward.
Jaouen is also looking to improve mentally, an important aspect of any goalkeeper’s game. To do so, he has revealed that he is working with a former commando who served in Afghanistan. “He teaches me how to turn into a warrior when I step onto the pitch, as he was on the ground in Afghanistan. He tries to transmit what he used to do, through the experiences that he had,” Jaouen told RMC Sport in an exclusive interview.
The France youth international has played nine games in Ligue 2 this season, keeping three clean sheets.
