The Tractor Boys suffered relegation from the Premier League last season and under Kieran McKenna, they are looking to go straight back up.

Ipswich have had a quiet window so far, where they have brought in Reims defender Cedric Kipre on loan, signed Ashley Young on a free transfer and added Azor Matusiwa to their midfield.

McKenna however, is keen on adding to their forward department, keeping in mind that they struggled to find goals last season.

Ipswich want to add another forward with Como’s Azon in their mind but Spanish outfit Valencia already offered to take him on loan with a loan fee worth €500,000.

However, due to Valencia’s delay in completing the deal, Ipswich entered the race and tried to hijack the deal by offering to triple the amount the Spanish giants are willing to pay.

But according to Spanish radio Cadena SER, Azon has made it clear to Como that he will not join Championship outfit Ipswich and he will only leave Como for Valencia in the ongoing window.

The former Spanish Under-21 international joined Como in the winter of 2025 from Real Zaragoza and has yet to make any appearances for the Italian side.

It remains to be seen whether Ipswich will try to convince Azon to move this summer or walk away and focus on other targets they are pursuing.

Ajax’s Chuba Akpom is on their list and they tried to hijack his move to Birmingham City and gave him a medical.

However, Birmingham struck back by offering Ajax a permanent transfer with confidence that they will be able to get a green light from the player.

However, it has been suggested that Birmingham have decided to pull the plug on the pursuit of Akpom, as the player wants to join Ipswich.
