Lautaro Martinez was a shadow of his true self in Sunday’s Serie A match between Hellas Verona and Inter Milan.

According to the Italian media via L’Interista, El Toro delivered a bleak performance at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

Seeking his first league goal since early October, Lautaro Martinez was supposed to be Inter’s danger man in Verona.

However, the Argentine superstar was nearly anonymous for most of the game, often finding himself isolated from the rest of the team.

Piotr Zielinski stole the spotlight with a stunning volley, compensating for Lautaro’s sub-standard display.

After forcing Galatasaray loanee Victor Nelsson to make a goal-line clearance early on, El Toro vanished from the pitch.

Indeed, he was merely involved in build-up plays, while his partnership with Ange-Yoan Bonny lacked the usual spark and cohesion.

Despite Lautaro’s struggles, Cristian Chivu refused to sub him off.

Hopefully, the former Racing Club striker will get back on track when Inter take on Kairat Almaty on Wednesday.
