Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has won just one of his opening nine league games in charge of the club, yet instead of calls for him to be sacked, Owls fans may be worried that another team tries to poach him away from Hillsborough.

Wednesday sits in 23rd place after nine games, with one win, three draws and five losses, meaning they are only kept off the bottom of the table by fierce Steel City rivals Sheffield United.

The Owls' off-field struggles are well documented at this stage, with wages having been paid late or not at all, resulting in a potential point deduction and numerous transfer embargoes; this is just the tip of the iceberg.

With former manager Danny Rohl not returning to the club for pre-season training, having angled for a move which never came, he was eventually dismissed from his duties and replaced by Danish manager Pedersen.

In tough circumstances, Pedersen has led his side out with dignity and fight, which is all fans are hopeful for when they turn up to watch them this season, with a squad devoid of depth, confidence and quality.

Yet, despite their low league position, calls for his head by Owls fans have not occurred, and instead, they may be worried another club will decide to take him away from South Yorkshire.

'Battling' Henrik Pedersen is expected to stay at Sheffield Wednesday in the immediate future, with potential interest from other clubs waved away

Football League World's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit, Patrick, has shared his views on whether manager Pedersen could potentially be poached by another club at some stage, given the way he has conducted himself in difficult circumstances at the Owls.

Patrick said, "Right now, I don't think that another club will come in for Henrik Pedersen in the near future.

"Now, I'm not saying this because I don't think he's doing a good job at Sheffield Wednesday; it would be ridiculous to say so.

"In the circumstances the club is in, which he have went over a million times and is well known, he has got us battling, he has got this decimated and despondent squad out there getting points, and we have six more points than I thought we would have at this stage.

"Indeed, we have been unlucky against Wrexham and Birmingham not to get all three points from those games there.

"He is clearly very much liked and respected by the squad, and he is man-managing them to a very high level, and they seem to be reacting to Henrik; they like him, and to have someone like that right now is crucial.

"If there was a manager that the players weren't taking to, they'd be getting no points.

"Certainly, Henrik will be looked at, whatever happens. Unfortunately, I do think that there will be a relegation on his CV this season.

"He's not really managing in normal circumstances; he seems to be the man for an extraordinary situation at Sheffield Wednesday, and I think before he came to the club, his CV wasn't outstanding, so it's kind of hard to judge how he would do in more normal circumstances at another club.

"In a way, is this job holding him back from more normal roles? I don't know. I can see him staying here for the near future, and I can't see him being poached at any stage this season.

Henrik Pedersen is doing a respectable job in tough circumstances at Sheffield Wednesday

Pedersen is certainly not doing a job getting fans out of their seats regularly, but with limited resources in turbulent circumstances, his job has been admirable.

A late equaliser conceded away to Birmingham City denied them all three points at St Andrews, with strong cup performances away to Bolton Wanderers and, most notably, at home to Leeds United, where they won on penalties, rightfully earned him plaudits.

To keep Wednesday up this campaign is a mammoth job for anyone, especially with their impending points deduction decision looming over their heads, and no sign of Thai owner Dejphon Chansiri selling the club as yet.

If Pedersen can continue to distil fight and passion into his side, he will keep Wednesday supporters on side, and when the inevitable does happen and Wednesday are relegated, Pedersen will likely have offers on the table he previously wouldn't have been considered for.

No club is likely to take a risk on him just yet, so Wednesday fans can rest assured that their manager's position is at least stable for now.
