Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen has overseen an extremely difficult tenure in the dugout, amid the Championship club's time in administration.

League One-bound Wednesday have earned just one victory in 28 second-tier attempts, and remain on a negative points tally, courtesy of previous deductions.

However, Pedersen has not come under sack pressure due to the unfortunate financial circumstances, which have prompted several player exits, including that of Owls legend Barry Bannan.

Meanwhile, James Bord has been named as Sheffield Wednesday's preferred bidder, and any prospective owner will make their own decision regarding Pedersen's future.

Wednesday have learned that the Independent Football Regulator can't assess prospective owners yet, as the South Yorkshire outfit vie to enter a new chapter beyond administration.

Meanwhile, Football League World asked our Owls fan pundit, Patrick McKenna, if he could see Pedersen being moved on from the Hillsborough dugout once Bord's consortium complete their takeover.

McKenna said: "In regards to new owners, who they are and when they take over, I think that they do have a decision to make about Henrik Pedersen. It is quite often we do see new owners coming in with their plan, and quite often a new manager is part of it.

"If Pedersen was replaced, it wouldn't be something unusual. But he has been in an impossible situation this season, and it's been hard to properly judge the job he has done at Sheffield Wednesday. Of course, as fans, there's still a tendency to try and make some sort of judgement, saying he could have done some subs earlier in the game or picked the team slightly differently.

"But the resources he has are so scarce that he can't think and plan in any sort of normality. I think he has been quite unlucky in not winning a few more points this season. Football isn't really a game of sentiment. I don't think the new owners will have that leeway as fans we give towards Pedersen.

"I could see a new manager come in. If that were the case, it would say thank you to Pedersen for stepping in and trying your best. Because certainly you did not get a fair crack at the whip, due to Dejphon Chansiri."

Henrik Pedersen deserves great credit for the work he has done at Wednesday

As summarised by McKenna, Wednesday's next owners will likely look to move Pedersen on, as they look to put their own stamp on proceedings at the South Yorkshire club.

However, despite the Owls' struggles both on and off the field, the 48-year-old deserves a great amount of respect for the role he has played at Hillsborough.

Pedersen, who formerly assisted Danny Rohl, saw the German move on from his Wednesday stint, but remained loyal even though ex-owner Chansiri was consistently failing to pay staff and player wages on time.

The Dane has helped hold the Owls together in an incredibly difficult time for both players and supporters, albeit his on-field results have left a lot to be desired.
