With the summer transfer window still ongoing, FC Barcelona continue to invest in the market to further improve their squad. While several key signings have already been made, it seems that the Catalan giants are not done just yet.
Recently, it was being reported that La Blaugrana were interested in the services of 31-year-old Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic. In fact, several reports confirmed that Barça wanted to bring him in as the successor to Wojciech Szczesny once he leaves.
Now, Fabrizio Romano himself has attached his ‘Here we go’ catchphrase to an agreement between Barcelona and Fenerbahce for the transfer of the player. At the moment, it is a verbal agreement to sign the Croatian goalkeeper and send him out on loan initially.
Further details provided by Romano confirm the price and full package of the operation as well. Reportedly, Barcelona will be paying €2 million as the initial fee for the player, while an additional €2 million will be included in the deal as add-ons. Ultimately, the plan is to bring him in during the summer of 2027 once Szczesny’s contract runs out.
That would ensure that Barça’s starting goalkeeper, Joan Garcia, would have a reliable back-up option available just in time. As for the current season, the player will be sent out on loan to a club while Barça see Szczesny play out the final year of his contract.
As for the club’s plans beyond the goalkeeper position, La Blaugrana remain focused on acquiring a striker for Hansi Flick’s squad before the end of the summer. Currently, reports are emerging linking the club to Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, but it seems that a potential deal will likely be a difficult one to complete
