‘He’s a genius of football’ – Mason Greenwood on Roberto De Zerbi | OneFootball

In an interview with Téléfoot, Marseille forward Mason Greenwood (24) spoke about what it’s like to be managed by Roberto De Zerbi and the influence that the Italian head coach has had on the former Manchester United striker since he arrived in France. 

The England international attacker arrived at OM in the same summer as the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager and has thrived under the leadership of the Les Olympiens boss. Greenwood has scored 33 goals and registered 10 assists across all competitions in 54 appearances since he arrived at the Ligue 1 club. 

Greenwood – ‘He’s helped me a lot’

The Bradford-born striker was full of superlatives when talking about Roberto De Zerbi. Asked about the former Shakhtar head coach’s management and influence on his development, the 24-year-old said, “He’s a mastermind of the game, with his ideas. He has helped me understand football a lot more. Since I arrived, he has helped me on a daily basis to help me get better.” The forward has continued his impressive form this season with 11 goals and 4 assists in 18 appearances.
