Robinio Vaz (18) is a name that is starting to be uttered outside of the confines of the Stade Vélodrome. The Marseille youngster continued his breakthrough this season after making history to become the youngest OM player to score a brace in Ligue 1 since 1947 last night against Angers (2-2). The 18-year-old now has three goals and two assists in only around 180 minutes of Ligue 1 football, making him one of Europe’s most impactful players born in 2007 – second only to Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.“He’s not here for us to sell him to England in the summer,” De Zerbi insisted following Marseille’s draw last night against Angers at the Vélodrome – transcribed by La Minute OM. “He plays because he’s good — he already was last year. We’re just helping him take the next step.”According to La Provence, Marseille rejected multiple loan offers for Vaz earlier this year, including approaches from Premier League clubs after his senior debut in January 2025.“If you look across Europe’s top five leagues, there’s no other 2007-born player quite like him,” a senior figure at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus training centre reportedly told the paper. “He’s fast, powerful, fearless — and improving technically every week.”With Gouiri sidelined, Vaz will compete directly with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for one of the two central attacking roles in De Zerbi’s system. Les Olympiens will head to Auxerre this weekend before facing Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League next week. GFFN | George Boxall
