A potential move to the MLS would attract Watford defender Ryan Porteous, who Hibernian want to bring back this summer, according to journalist Dan Marsh.

The Scottish side had a very good second half of the last season under David Gray, after they started the campaign poorly.

With European football looming at Hibernian next season, there will be an emphasis on getting their business done and getting it right to back Gray.

Gray’s side look like they are prioritising bringing a defender in and are looking at a former player.

Watford’s 26-year-old Scottish international Porteous, who started his career at Aberdeen and then joined the Hibees, has been widely linked with a possible return to Easter Road.

However, Porteous could end up not going to his former club, as it has been suggested that clubs from the United States are showing interest in him.

And it has been claimed that a potential switch to the MLS would prove to be an attractive prospect for the Scotland defender.

Alongside Hibernian, though, Porteous has clubs interested from within the Championship as well.

However, despite interest from clubs in the Championship and the Scottish Premiership, he could well leave the UK.

He was on loan to Preston North End in the second half of the last campaign, but he is likely to leave Watford on a permanent transfer this summer.

Poteous has more than 150 appearances for Hibs to his name and it remains to be seen if he will return to the club after two years he left them.

His contract at Vicarage Road does not expire until the summer of 2027.

It remains to be seen which MLS sides are looking at potentially taking him across the Atlantic.
