Heidenheim will be looking to cause an upset when they take on Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga on Sunday at the Voith-Arena.
Bayern struggled at home against the bottom-placed Mainz in their previous game, and Heidenheim can draw inspiration from that match.
The German champions drew 2-2 at home against Mainz, and Vincent Kompany will demand a strong performance ahead of the winter break.

Heidenheim failed to capitalise on Eric Smith’s first-half red card and ended up losing 2-1 against St Pauli in the previous game.It was a big setback for them after securing back-to-back wins against Union Berlin and Freiburg.
They have failed to win eight of their last 10 games across all competitions and have not kept a clean sheet in their last 17 games.
Heidenheim have also conceded first and have been trailing in the first half in each of their last five games, and they need to rectify that against Bayern.
Interestingly, Heidenheim defeated Bayern 3-2 in April 2024 in the Bundesliga, but otherwise, the German giants have won three of their last four meetings quite convincingly.
Bayern have lost only once in the first half of the 2025-26 season across all competitions, and they have reached a different level under Kompany.
The German giants are undefeated in their last five games, winning four of them, and are at the top of the Bundesliga table, nine points ahead of second-placed RB Leipzig.
They have kept only one clean sheet in their last nine games.
However, Bayern are in a league of their own, undefeated in their last 23 Bundesliga matches.
Bayern have scored at least two goals in their last 22 matches in the Bundesliga, and expect this to be another goal-fest cracker.
Leart Pacrada and Frank Feller have been ruled out, while Budu Zivzivadze, who was ruled out against St Pauli, could return to the side this weekend.
Omar Traore is likely to return to the starting line-up, pushing Marnon Busch to the centre-back role.
Manuel Neuer has picked up a muscle injury and will not take part in the game. Luis Diaz has served his one-match suspension, and he will return to the side.
Konrad Laimer is suspended for this game, which means Tom Bischof is likely to play at left-back.
The biggest news coming out from Bayern is that Joshua Kimmich had problems with his ankle and he could not train properly.
The big question before this match was Michael Olise’s fitness. He is back again. He had an operation on his eye this week. A secret training was arranged and he is now back with the team. Luis Diaz is also back after missing the last game due to suspension (five yellow cards). Lennart Karl wants to play as well, so it will be interesting to see how Kompany picks his starting line-up for this game.
In Hiedenheim, Bayern have played two matches. In the first match, they lost 3-2, despite leading by 2-0. Last season, they won 4-0.
Let me add that in the secret training, Kompany focused on some exercise training as he was not happy with the lack of sharpness in the previous game, 2-2 against Mainz.
