Historic achievement earns Benni McCarthy honour from President William Ruto

Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy was recently awarded the Head of State Commendation (HSC) by President William Ruto recognising his contribution to the national team’s progress.

The former South Africa international guided Kenya to the quarter-finals of the Africa Nations Championship CHAN in Nairobi.. the furthest the team has ever gone in a major international tournament.

McCarthy who took charge in March has so far recorded:

from his first 14 matches in charge.

Ulinzi Stars captain Boniface Muchiri was also awarded the Head of State Commendation while Gor Mahia midfielder who scored twice during CHAN, received the Order of the Grand Warrior for outstanding service.
