Werder Bremen’s winless run extended to seven games in a cruel manner as the hosts conceded an injury-time goal by Ansgar Knauff in a 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. Although he saw his team come from behind twice in the game, Horst Steffen sees the result as two points dropped instead of a point earned.

“We should have seen the game out,” said Steffen after the game that saw his team end a three-game scoreless run. “If you look at the way the match unfolded, then we have to win it. The three points were there for the taking, but unfortunately, we didn’t secure them.

“Especially in the second half, we showed a good approach to the game. Still, the disappointment after the final whistle is huge. At the end of the day, we’ve lost out on two points.”

Bremen will hope to end their abysmal run away at Leverkusen on matchday 19. Steffen’s side are winless since the 2-1 home victory against Wolfsburg in the first Friday of November.
