Looking to get one step closer to a top-eight finish, Chelsea visit Bergamo to take on Atalanta BC in Tuesday’s Champions League showdown.
The Blues humiliated Barcelona in their most recent Champions League outing, thrashing Hansi Flick and his troops 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
However, that stunning victory hasn’t brought them any good fortune, with the Blues failing to win any of their subsequent three games on returning to Premier League duties.
A dreadful 3-1 defeat against relegation-threatened Leeds United on either side of draws against Arsenal and Bournemouth means Chelsea have taken just two points from nine on offer.
Manager Enzo Maresca will hope it’s only a blip as they look to return to winning ways in midweek.
With the fixtures coming thick and fast, you’d expect Maresca to carry on with his rotation policy, but seeing how it has affected his side’s performances, he could decide to tone it down on Tuesday.
That said, Robert Sanchez should retain his place in the starting line-up, ahead of Filip Jorgensen, who is rumoured to be angling for an exit in search of regular playing time.
But there could be changes across the backline, with Marc Cucurella finally handed a breather alongside Wesley Fofana.
Maresca previously admitted that he regretted starting Tosin Adarabioyo ahead of Josh Acheampong in the Leeds defeat, so the academy graduate should get the nod at centre-back.
While he partners with Trevoh Chalobah, Jorrel Hato should come in at left back, with Malo Gusto lining up on the other flank.
Moises Caicedo is two games into his three-match domestic suspension, but he’s eligible to face Atalanta and should return to the midfield.
He’ll likely be partnered by Andrey Santos while Enzo Fernandez pushes up to the number 10 role in place of the absent Cole Palmer.
Estevao should also return to the XI as Chelsea’s top scorer, with Jamie Gittens potentially given the nod on the left flank, while Joao Pedro leads the line.
