Chelsea are set to welcome Barcelona to Stamford Bridge for an iconic Champions League showdown that’ll undoubtedly evoke plenty of nostalgia on Tuesday night.

The West Londoners head into the contest as slight underdogs, but Enzo Maresca’s side will fancy their chances of coming away with all three points on home turf.

Chelsea come into this fixture on the back of a hard-fought 2-0 win over relegation-threatened Burnley at Turf Moor, courtesy of goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez.

While looking to preserve a five-match unbeaten streak (D4, D1), Chelsea are also keen to return to winning ways on the European front after dropping points in a massively disappointing 2-2 draw against Qarabag.

They’re sitting 12th in the League Phase and are on course to secure a spot in the play-offs, but a win against Barca later tonight would strengthen their chances of a top-eight finish.

How Chelsea could line up

Maresca will undoubtedly ring the changes for the coming blockbuster fixture after resting a few big names in the victory against Burnley.

Filip Jorgensen has been clamouring for more first-team minutes. But at the moment, he’s miles behind Robert Sanchez in the pecking order and should sit this one out.

Sanchez has kept three clean sheets in his last four outings and should have a back four of Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, and Marc Cucurella ahead of him against Barca.

Moises Caicedo returns to the starting XI after watching his understudy Andrey Santos put in a man-of-the-match performance against Burnley.

The Ecuadorian midfield general should anchor the midfield alongside Reece James, while Alejandro Garnacho and highly rated Chelsea gem Estevao start on the flanks.

Garnacho has notched four goal contributions (two goals and two assists) across his last four games, while Estevao scored in back-to-back games for Brazil.

Fernandez should slot into the number 10 role as Cole Palmer steps up his recovery, while Joao Pedro leads the line ahead of Liam Delap.
