Lampard's stellar work in the second tier hasn't gone unnoticed, though, as top-flight outfit Crystal Palace have eyed the 47-year-old as a potential replacement for Oliver Glasner.

Glasner will depart Selhurst Park at the end of the season, leaving the Eagles in need of a worthy replacement for the man who guided them to FA Cup glory last term.

Meanwhile, Coventry are 12 points clear of second-place Ipswich Town, third-place Middlesbrough, and fourth-place Millwall with five games remaining.

Ipswich have two games in hand on the Sky Blues, but the gap between the two sides means that Lampard's men should go on to lift the Championship title.

Coventry have been in a rich vein of form, and should add another win to their impressive second-tier campaign when they host Sheffield Wednesday on 11 April.

The financially-troubled Owls have still managed just one victory in the Championship this season, but can take confidence from their 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Monday.

Meanwhile, according to Football Insider, Palace will be unsuccessful in any attempt to tempt Lampard away from Coventry ahead of next season's Premier League campaign.

The report adds that the Eagles' chairman, Steve Parish, has admired the Sky Blues boss for a long time, and is keen to explore the possibility of bringing the former England midfielder to the Selhurst Park dugout.

However, Lampard wants to remain at Coventry, where he is set to lead a Premier League survival effort next term.

Doug King will be delighted by Frank Lampard's Crystal Palace stance

When Coventry sacked Mark Robins and replaced him with Lampard in November 2024, it was a controversial decision that many Sky Blues supporters were left upset by.

However, that seems like an extremely distant memory now, as the former Derby County boss has steered the CBS Arena outfit to the brink of the Premier League following last term's play-off semi-final defeat.

Coventry are set to embark on an exciting new chapter in the Premier League next season, but owner Doug King has plenty of work to do, particularly in the transfer market.

Sunderland have demonstrated the importance of enjoying a successful summer transfer window, as they have been a solid top-flight outfit since winning promotion via the Championship play-offs last term.

King would have even more to think about if Lampard was tempted away from the West Midlands, so he will be delighted that the ex-Everton boss is set to stay.

Furthermore, stability is paramount for a club who are set to compete in a new division next term, and test their ability up against the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Lampard's previous experience as a Premier League manager with both Chelsea and Everton enhances Coventry's survival chances.
