It has been a long time since Maynor Figueroa last pulled on a Wigan Athletic shirt.
The Honduran international, who made just over 200 appearances in all competitions for the Latics – helping them to FA Cup glory in 2013 – made his final appearance for Wigan during a spell on loan with the club from Hull City during the early part of the 2014/15 season.
After being recalled by the Tigers in December 2014, Figueroa made just a handful of appearances during that campaign, as the club were relegated from the Premier League.
Following Hull’s drop into the Championship, Figueroa was released by the club in the summer of 2015, a departure which paved the way for the centre back to head to America.
In the wake of his departure from Hull, Figeuroa joined the Colarado Rapids, but made just ten appearances for the club before leaving at the end of 2015.
Figueroa remained in the USA however, and spent the next three seasons with FC Dallas, making 88 appearances and winning the 2016 US Open Cup, before leaving the club in November 2018.
However, the defender’s American adventure would not stop there, with Figeuroa having now been playing for Houston Dynamo since the start of the 2019 season.
During that time, Figeuroa has made 62 appearances and scored twice for Houston, who finished bottom of the Western Conference this season, and with his contract expiring at the end of this year, it remains to be seen if he will be handed a new deal by the club.
On the international front, the 38-year-old remains a regular feature for Honduras’ senior side, and has now made well over 170 appearance for his country, putting him among the most capped players in World football.
