Roma and Lazio will lock horns in a massive Rome derby in the Serie A tomorrow. Both clubs have something to fight for in the campaign but it will be a massive moment in the career of goalkeeper Alessio Furlanetto.
As things stand, Lazio have Ivan Provedel and young Edoardo Motta both out injured due to injuries.
This will leave them to hand a debut to the 24-year-old Furlanetto, who will carve out a unique record.
Tuttomercatoweb report that the keeper will be only the fourth player in history to make his full debut in the Derby della Capitale.
The first to do so was striker Paolo Franzoni in 1973. The second time this happened was in 1996, when Alessandro Grandoni made his debut and the third instance is more recent, as Spaniard Jony made his first Lazio appearance against Roma in 2019.
Motta was instrumental for Lazio in the Coppa Italia semi-final against Atalanta. Even in general, he has become a vital presence at the back for Maurizio Sarri’s side.
His absence will be felt and the pressure will be on his replacement Furlanetto to make a mark. This will give Roma an opportunity to test the Italian more whenever they get the opportunity tomorrow.
