A Russian club ranked 227th in the world has rejected the opportunity to sign former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho after the free agent was offered to them.

Sancho was interested in joining the title winners, but the approach went no further and the 26-year-old remains without a club following his departure from United.

Sancho’s search since leaving Old Trafford

The English winger became available on a free transfer when his contract with the Red Devils expired. That followed a loan spell at Aston Villa which did not lead to a permanent move.

Sancho has subsequently been looking for his next club, with his freedom to sign outside a transfer window giving him time to assess the available options.

Palmeiras emerged as one possible destination and Sancho was considered close to joining the Brazilian side. However, the move to the Verdão did not materialise.

There has also been discussion of another spell with Borussia Dortmund. TPP previously covered Niko Kovac’s response to the possibility of Sancho returning to BVB, but no such switch has followed.

Krasnodar turn down proposed signing

Foot Mercato, citing Championat, reported that Sancho was offered to Krasnodar as his search for a new employer continued.

The former United player was said to be enthusiastic about the potential move. Krasnodar won the Russian championship in 2025 and were leading the domestic standings at the time of the approach.

The Russian side nevertheless declined the proposal. Talks therefore did not progress towards an agreement over Sancho’s arrival.

A difficult period for Jadon Sancho

Sancho spent longer being targeted by United while he was at Borussia Dortmund than he spent playing for United once they finally signed him.

Poor performances on the pitch and reports of a poor work ethic in training led to loan spells back at Dortmund, then at Chelsea and finally at Aston Villa.

There were opportunities for each loan deal to be made permanent but he did not do enough at any of the three sides to convince them – in Villa’s case, even though there would be no transfer fee involved as his United contract had run down.

The range of clubs associated with Sancho has been unusually broad. Palmeiras offered a possible route to Brazil, Krasnodar would have taken him to Russia, while Dortmund represented a familiar option in Germany.

TPP also covered the prospect of the former Red Devil being offered a fresh opportunity away from Old Trafford by former Liverpool man Jonjo Shelvey at Arabian Falcons earlier in September, all to no avail.

The Krasnodar rejection is a measure of just how low Sancho’s stock has fallen after at one point being one of the most valuable young players on the planet.
