There was a negative reaction when owner Doug King sacked club legend Mark Robins last season, with Lampard named as his replacement.

However, the ex-Chelsea boss quickly changed opinion, as the Sky Blues went on a fantastic run of form that saw the side go from languishing in the bottom half to the top six.

Frank Lampard brings the feel-good factor back to Coventry City

Unfortunately for Coventry, their campaign ended in heartbreak, as they were beaten by Sunderland over two legs in dramatic fashion in the play-off semi-final.

Nevertheless, there will be an optimism and belief that the Midlands outfit can push for promotion once again next season, and that is reflected in the season ticket sales at the club.

That’s after Coventry revealed on social media that they had shifted over 12,500 season tickets in the first five days since the renewal window opened.

Coventry City fans will back Frank Lampard to deliver success

So, more sales are likely over the coming days, and you would expect the CBS Arena to be rocking next season, which will delight the manager.

To their credit, the supporters backed Lampard and the team in big numbers from the day he arrived, as Coventry averaged just under 28,000 last season.

That puts them fifth in the league in terms of the average attendance, and they will expect to be in a similar position, if not higher, during the 2025/26 season.

From Lampard’s perspective, the focus will be on getting results, and he will be gearing up for a huge summer ahead of his first full season in charge at Coventry.

The failure to go up will put question marks over the future of some players, with Jack Rudoni among those having been linked with a move away after his outstanding form since the new boss came in.

But, no matter what happens, Lampard is fully on board with the project at Coventry, and he will be relishing the chance to reshape the squad as he tries to bring in his own signings to make a few tweaks that can make the Sky Blues successful.

If he can do that, the fans will provide the vocal backing that the team needs from the stands, and it could make Coventry a dangerous club in the promotion battle next season.
