There has been one more exit from the Potteries today, as young defender Jaden Dixon has completed a permanent move to Arsenal just before the transfer deadline.

Dixon, a fully-fledged England youth international, spent the bulk of his youth career with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur before making the move to Staffordshire in the summer of 2023.

He would sign his first professional deal with Stoke the following summer upon turning 17, and has since made six first-team appearances for the Potters, though none have come this season, as he now completes a move back to the capital.

Arsenal will pay Stoke City £3.2 million for Jaden Dixon's signature

As per Pete O'Rourke via X, it has been revealed that Arsenal will pay the Potters £3.2 million plus bonuses for the 18-year-old defender, penning a four-year deal at The Emirates.

The Gunners have beaten the likes of Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Utrecht, and NEC Nijmegen to his signature, with the youngster returning to London after two-and-a-half years away.

Arsenal have held an interest in Dixon for at least a year now, with Football Insider having reported back in February 2025 that Mikel Arteta's side had attempted to lure him away from the Potteries then.

With Stoke treading the fine line of the FFP regulations, the £3.2 million will certainly help to steady the ship heading into the summer, before the regulations undergo a change.

Mark Robins' side have struggled with injuries in recent weeks, meaning that Dixon was named as a substitute in four consecutive games in the Championship, though he didn't make an appearance during that time.

Now, he will link up with Arsenal, likely heading straight into their youth system, where he will hope to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Bukayo Saka, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Max Dowman in recent years to stake a claim in Arteta's first team.

Although first-team appearances were few and far between for Dixon, especially under Robins, there will be an air of disappointment at losing a talented youngster such as Dixon.

The £3.2 million plus bonuses will go a long way to help ensure that the club adheres to the financial rules they must comply with, though many Potters supporters will be underwhelmed by his lack of game time.

Arsenal's long-term interest in the England youth international would suggest that the Gunners see Dixon as a seriously bright talent, and they have swooped in ahead of strong competition for his signature.

Dixon's departure likely won't affect Stoke's ambitions of a play-off too much, given his lack of first-team appearances in the league this season, and Robins will be keen to keep his side focused and get back to some good form.
