Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto is set to join Al-Duhail for €10m, and his former club Liverpool will get a 12% fee, paid by the Qatari club, reports Corriere dello Sport.
Spanish midfielder Luis Alberto is set to leave Lazio after eight years. Corriere dello Sport confirms the 31-year-old will join Al-Duhail on a permanent €10m transfer.
Friday’s printed edition of the Rome-based paper, on page 11, claims Liverpool agreed to a 12% sell-on clause when they sent the Spaniard to Lazio for €4m in 2016.
This means the Premier League side will receive €1.2m once Luis Alberto’s transfer is completed. According to the report, the Qatari side will pay the fee, so Lazio will earn the full sum for the midfielder’s transfer.
Corriere dello Sport adds that Luis Alberto will fly to Qatar on Sunday to sign his contract.
The Spanish midfielder extended with Lazio less than a year ago, signing a new agreement until June 2027.
However, this past April, he surprised the club by saying that he wanted to rescind his contract at the end of the campaign.
Luis Alberto scored 52 goals in 307 games with Lazio, winning two Supercoppa Italiana and one Coppa Italia.
He was also named in the AIC’s Serie A Team of the Year for the 2019-2020 campaign.
