Reports suggesting that teams from Italy and Portugal had placed bids for the 24-year-old were confirmed at Liam Manning's first press conference as boss of the Canaries.

Those teams, who have since been revealed as Serie A champions Napoli and Porto, are not the only ones interested in Sainz. Outfits from within this country, Spain and Turkey are also said to be keen on the attacker.

Value of Porto bid for Borja Sainz revealed

Norwich's sporting director, Ben Knapper, admitted that the club had received proposals regarding the purchase of Sainz, but the offers did not hit their valuation of the Championship's joint-second top scorer in the 2024/25 campaign.

He said: "We’ve had multiple formal offers. There’s other clubs circling. But none of those have met our valuation. We’ve shown long before my time at the club as well, we can get good value for players...

"Selling players is important and we’ve managed to do that well historically. Things have to be right for us and that will remain the same."

The offer that they received from Porto: £12.7 million, according to Sky Sports' Anthony Joseph. Martin Anselmi's side wanted to bring in Sainz before the start of the Club World Cup, which starts on Sunday. They are expected to go back for Sainz later in the summer, per Joseph, with Antonio Conte's outfit also expected to continue with their interest.

The Pink Un have reported that Sainz is expected to leave Norwich this summer. There is also a threat of fellow talisman Josh Sargent leaving as he is reportedly being looked at by AS Roma.

On the prospect of two of his biggest attacking talents leaving Carrow Road this summer, Manning admitted: "You have to work for today and tomorrow. They are top players for the level and naturally they will have interest, but it has to be right for the club."

Now may be the right time to cash in on Borja Sainz

Interest in Sainz really began to mount after the first half of last season. He racked up 15 goals before Christmas hit, leading to interest in him from Atletico Madrid and Girona. It has now been stated by Pink Un that Athletic Bilbao are the most likely ones to capture the Spaniard this summer.

With this amount of intrigue, it's going to be very tough for Norwich to hold onto the forward. He has ambitions to play at the highest level, and the chances are that City might not be able to offer that in the near future.

On the flip side of that, what the club can't count on, based on the second half of last season when Sainz only found the back of the net three times, is his price point remaining this high. They might not ever be able to get this much money for him.

His contract basically has one year left on it. It's probably going to be now (this summer) or never to cash in on Sainz.
