Sheffield United are in talks with Gus Hamer and Tyrese Campbell as they look to secure the pair on long-term contracts at Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United continued their remarkable improvement under Chris Wilder with a convincing 4-0 win over Stoke City on Saturday.
That made it four wins on the bounce for the Blades, who are now five points clear of the relegation zone, and they may have one eye on the play-offs given their form.
Of course, Wilder will not be getting carried away, and he returned to Bramall Lane for a third time with the aim of building a long-term project that can deliver success over a sustained period.

To do that, the manager will have a core group that he wants to build around, and Gustavo Hamer and Tyrese Campbell certainly fall into that category.
The attacking midfielder was absent for Wilder’s return to the club, but he hasn’t taken long to show his undoubted quality, having scored and registered an assist in the past three games.
Meanwhile, Campbell has been key to the way the Blades play with his pace, and the two goals in the recent derby win over Sheffield Wednesday highlighted his ability.
Despite their importance to the team, there are doubts over the long-term futures of Hamer and Campbell, as their respective contracts expire in 2027.
Therefore, if Sheffield United can’t quickly agree terms with the duo, they may be forced to cash in on their key men in the summer window, or they risk losing them on free transfers, but it has been reported that the club have opened talks over agreeing extensions with the pair.
It's understandable that this is a priority for the Blades, and securing their signatures would be a statement of intent from the Yorkshire outfit - even if it could be costly.
Whilst we must stress that these are only estimates, Capology claim that Hamer is on £30,000 a week at Bramall Lane, which would put him among the top earners.

In truth, you would expect Hamer to be one of the highest paid players at Sheffield United, as he has been brilliant since his arrival, and he was named as the best player in the Championship last season, so he warrants such a wage.
As for Campbell, Capology estimates that he is on £15,000 a week, so it may be easier for the Blades to reach an agreement with the forward.
However, finalising contracts with either player won’t be straightforward, as you can be sure they will be on the radar of other clubs.
Plus, Sheffield United’s financial situation is going to be crucial in all of this. If the Blades fail to go up this season, it will mean they’re set for a third consecutive year outside the Premier League, and that is going to have implications as the parachute payments will drop.
The fans will be pushing for the club to agree new deals with Hamer and Campbell, but it could be difficult to hand out two big contracts, even if Wilder will state the importance of the two players.
Yet, the fact discussions are starting offers reason for optimism, and all connected to Sheffield United will be hoping that positive announcements follow in the coming weeks or months.
