October could be a defining month for Vasco, with crucial SAF sale steps, a Copa Sudamericana semi-final and a relegation battle converging.

According to Globo.com, Pedro Emanuel’s side improved in September and now face decisive fixtures while the board moves to finalise the SAF sale to Almirante Participações, owned by Marcos Lamacchia.

After Lamacchia won the auction, Pedrinho said he expects to complete the sale of 90% by the end of October. The Deliberative Council will hold an extraordinary session on Tuesday, 6 October, to analyse and vote on the deal.

As the statute requires CRVG to keep at least 20% of the SAF, the board proposed cutting the floor to 10%. If both items pass, the text goes to the General Assembly this month.

On the pitch, Vasco meet Boca Juniors in the semi-finals, chasing a first international final of the 21st century. The last was the 2000 Copa Mercosur, a 4-3 comeback against Palmeiras.

The first leg is at La Bombonera on 13. After a Maracanã request for 20 was rejected, Vasco are working to host the return at São Januário. Conmebol requires 30,000 capacity and the venue must be set at least 10 days in advance.

Five key Brasileirão games also await against lower-half rivals. Vasco sit 16th on 31 points, two from Grêmio, first in the Z-4. Four are in Rio, with derbies against Botafogo, who are four points ahead, after the FIFA window and Flamengo, plus Remo and Corinthians at São Januário, and a trip to São Paulo on 17 at Morumbis.
