The 34-year-old oversaw nine games for the Baggies, failing to win on a single occasion, leaving the team at risk of relegation to League One.

The young coach was brought in as a replacement to Ryan Mason, who took charge in the summer, but he has been unable to turn things around after a poor first half of the campaign.

Owner Shilen Patel will be keen to find a permanent option to take over, with James Morrison currently in position as an interim head coach.

West Brom are hovering just above the relegation zone, one point clear of 22nd place Leicester City, but will need to put an end to their winless run quickly in order to avoid falling further down the table.

Albion have not been as low as the third division of English football since 1993, with their last campaign in the Premier League coming as recently as 2021.

Sean Dyche’s West Brom stance

According to Football Insider, Sean Dyche is not interested in taking over at West Brom following Ramsay’s exit.

It’s believed that the 54-year-old is not keen on taking the step down to the Championship, with his sights set on remaining in the Premier League.

Dyche is currently out of work after his dismissal from Nottingham Forest earlier this month, and he has previously been in charge at Everton and Burnley in the top flight.

West Brom will have to set their sights on other targets, with the former Reds boss unlikely to consider a move to the Hawthorns at this stage.

Dyche has not worked in the second tier in almost 10 years, with his last season at this level leading to Burnley’s promotion to the Premier League.

It remains to be seen who will be offered the position as Ramsay’s permanent replacement, with Morrison now overseeing the first team squad on a temporary basis.

The 39-year-old will get the chance to lead the team this weekend when Albion face relegation rivals Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.

West Brom are seeking their first victory since 29 December, where they beat QPR 2-1, with a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic in midweek proving to be Ramsay’s final fixture as manager of the club.

Sean Dyche appointment was a long shot for West Brom

Dyche was an ambitious managerial appointment target for West Brom given where they are in the Championship.

The 54-year-old could potentially have been an achievable target if they were in the mix for promotion, and Premier League football was on the immediate horizon.

But what the Baggies need now is someone that can keep the club in the second division, as their current form is only going to lead to relegation to League One.

Morrison could yet get an extended run as manager if things go well this weekend, but it is a damning indictment of the ownership that they are now seeking a third permanent coach for just this season.
