Die Mannschaft looking for second win under new boss
Germany take on Greece in the Nations League today in Jurgen Klopp’s third game in charge.
The former Liverpool boss took over the reins from Julian Nagelsmann in the summer after a disappointing World Cup campaign that saw die Mannschaft knocked out in the first knockout round by Paraguay on penalties.
Now, Klopp has returned to management after a spell as the Red Bull Group’s Head of Global Football, and he has taken his first steps back into the technical area since leaving Liverpool back in 2024, when he was replaced by Arne Slot.
Since taking over his national team, Klopp has overseen a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands and a 2-0 win over Serbia.
But sandwiched between those two games is his first defeat, against tonight’s opposition.
The Greeks stunned the Germans 1-0 in Augsburg last weekend, with Dimitris Kourbelis netting the only goal in a stunning victory for Ivan Jovanovic’s side.
Germany will be hoping to exact their revenge when they travel to Thessaloniki having got back to winning ways against Serbia.
