Premier League big guns clash in third-round encounter

Liverpool make their entrance into this season’s Carabao Cup tonight when they entertain Tottenham at Anfield.

Due to their involvement with the Champions League this season, Andoni Iraola’s Reds received a bye in the second round and so come into the competition at the last-32 stage.

Meanwhile, big-spending Spurs have already seen off Charlton 5-0 to set up this tie, with the competition giving boss Roberto de Zerbi a chance to put a disappointing start to the Premier League behind him – his side are yet to score in four league games and have picked up only two points.

Still, a trip to unbeaten Liverpool will not be easy, even if, as expected, the hosts make a number of changes to their lineup.

Both teams will be aiming to progress to put their name into the hat for Wednesday’s last-16 draw.

A tight game could mean the tie has to be decided via a penalty shootout, something which will occur if the game is level after 90 minutes.

TV channel: This match will be broadcast live on free-to-air, terrestrial TV on ITV4. Sky Sports will also show the game on its Main Event and Football channels. Coverage on Sky will begin at 7pm BST, with ITV commencing at 7.30pm. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 8pm.
