Manchester City travel to Monaco tonight to play their first away fixture in this season’s Champions League.
Pep Guardiola’s side kicked off their European campaign with a 2-0 home victory against Italian champions Napoli. Whereas, Monaco succumbed to a 4-1 defeat to Belgian side Genk.
Despite their poor start, Monaco have a number of quality players that are capable of causing City problems. The Blues will be expecting a tricky test tonight.

Monaco have been hit hard by injuries in the early weeks of the season and that has been reflected in their form. They have won four times but also lost on three occasions in all competitions. New signing Ansu Fati has hit the ground running, scoring four times in his first three appearances.
After a slow start, City have been building form since the October international break. Guardiola’s side have won four out of five since then – only failing to do so in their 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates. Following a 5-1 win at the weekend, the Blues will look to continue building momentum this evening.
Ahead of the match, there were questions over the fitness of Rodri. The Ballon d’Or winner was absent from City’s squad on Saturday due to discomfort in the same knee that kept him sidelined for eight months last season.
“Yeah, he feels much better than the game before,” Guardiola answered on the midfielder’s availability to play.
Frenchman Rayan Cherki was also spotted in training ahead of the trip to Monaco but he was left out of the travelling squad. Guardiola explained: “It’s so risky, because next time it’s surgery, next time it’s four or five months.
“After we have two weeks for him to fully recover by training alone, with the EDS, with the team, and he’ll be ready.”
