A Patreon report says Huddersfield are plotting a loan for Sunderland goalkeeper Matty Young for 2026-27. Sunderland have been weighing destinations and Huddersfield are expected to receive approval to borrow the England youth international.
The 19-year-old previously had a stint at Darlington, then two productive spells with Salford City in League Two. He played at Wembley in last season’s play-off final, Salford losing 3-0 to Notts County.
Young has represented England at under-18, under-19 and under-20 level, and earned an under-21 call-up last year. Huddersfield brought in Owen Goodman on loan last summer, and their options now include Lee Nicholls, Jak Alnwick, Jacob Chapman and Nik Tzanev.
Wrexham have joined Millwall in showing interest in Anthony Patterson, who is valued in the £eight million to £10million range if sold. Both clubs are thought to be considering a loan, and Patterson spent the second half of last season away from Sunderland.
Patterson is understood to prefer a permanent move this summer. Wrexham’s pursuit could affect Arthur Okonkwo, and Young appears likely to head out on loan again.
