Football League World exclusively revealed that the Terriers carried an interest in Alves over the weekend, and the highly-rated 20-year-old has since been announced as a Huddersfield player, sparking a positive reaction from those associated with both Leicester and Huddersfield.

With a plethora of support on his Instagram post following the announcement, Huddersfield fans will love what Conor Coady had to say, after the experienced defender made 45 appearances for the club during the 2014/15 season.

Conor Coady provides support for Alves - and a glowing message for his old club

Alongside messages of support from the likes of Hamza Choudhury, Tom Cannon and Andy King, Coady took to the comments section of Alves' post, saying: "Good luck mate... fantastic club with great people 💪🏻."

Coady signed for the Terriers in 2014 after a loan spell with Sheffield United. He went on to become a promotion winner with Wolverhampton Wanderers just four years later and an eventual Premier League captain, before going to the 2022 Qatar World Cup with England.

Since leaving Wolves in 2022, Coady went on to make a combined 58 appearances for Everton and Leicester, before his recent summer move to Wrexham.

One of Coady's best moments in a Terriers shirt ironically came against the club that would become his future home, Wolves.

Coady, then a midfielder, found the back of the net with a sensational strike from range in a match that saw Huddersfield win 3-1 at Molineux.

A big personality in almost all the dressing rooms he has been in, Coady is often spoken about fondly when it comes to his leadership abilities, and the message of support for Alves will not just mean a lot personally, but also to Huddersfield supporters, too.

The loan move for the youngster feels like the right step for the 20-year-old, and the glowing reception from one of their former players only adds to the idea that the John Smiths Stadium is the perfect place for Alves to begin reaching what is believed to be sky-high potential.

High hopes for Alves at Huddersfield

The 20-year-old is highly rated at the King Power Stadium after coming through the Foxes' ranks; however, he has not been able to make an impression during the early days of Marti Cifuentes' tenure.

His only minutes of the campaign thus far actually came in the EFL Cup against Huddersfield, though he was replaced at half-time.

Alves spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City, providing a goal and three assists across 14 appearances before Cardiff were ultimately relegated to League One.

A versatile youngster capable of playing both centrally and out wide, a drop-down to League One in a side expected to be fighting at the top end could be the perfect move to add creativity to Lee Grant's side, and test Alves across a full EFL term.
