Tom Iorpenda has made a great start on loan at Notts County, unsurprisingly provoking questions about a January recall

Huddersfield Town loanee Tom Iorpenda has hit the ground running in his temporary switch to Notts County.
The 20-year-old found limited minutes in League One last season, capped at just five appearances in the division, so a loan was thought best for the youngster’s progression.
He’s made a great start to life at Meadow Lane, notching two assists in his eight League Two appearances so far.
Naturally, with a promising opening, thoughts turn to whether Huddersfield might be able to make use of him themselves when a recall becomes an option in January. We asked our Huddersfield fan pundit, Graeme Rayner, whether that’s something the club should be looking at.
Speaking to Football League World, Graeme said: “Tom Iorpenda, I think he's got bags of potential, and I think that potentially in January we should look at bringing him back.
“It certainly should be something that is a consideration at the moment, but it's still only September. We don't know what position we're going to be in, what position our midfield's going to be in.
“The challenge that he will have at the moment is if everyone is fit, who would he replace? And where is his best position? Is he a six, an eight, a 10?
“And I think he's one of those midfielders who arguably could probably play in those positions, all of those positions, and make an impact.
“So, is he at Notts County nailing down a position that's his best position and is that position going to be one where we need someone in January? It's just too soon to tell.
“But I like to think he has a future at the club, and actually, I was slightly surprised that we recruited so heavily in midfield without thinking that he might be a possible solution.
“It's good to see he’s doing well at Notts County. I think it's too soon to tell whether he should stay there the whole season or whether we should recall him.
“Let's have a look again, probably in mid-November and then if he is still doing well and we still look like we need an option there, then yeah, bring him back. But if not, he'll benefit more from playing.
“So it's all about whether he's going to get game time or not, but I think he's got a bright future.”
Unless there is a gaping hole in the Terriers’ midfield come January, they should allow Iorpenda to remain with the Magpies.
Senior minutes at this stage of his career are paramount over anything else. As a midfielder, 20 is still extremely young and there will be plenty of time to bed him in with Huddersfield’s first team.
Unless he’s going to go into Lee Grant’s side as a regular starter, then nothing will do more for his development than a full season in the starting XI, even if it is a division below his parent side.
