Hugo Ekitike targets December return after April Achilles rupture | OneFootball

Hugo Ekitike has been sidelined since rupturing his right Achilles tendon against PSG on 14 April. The Liverpool forward has been out of France contention during a long rehabilitation.

According to L'Équipe, the emergence of new France options in recent months has nudged him out of the conversation. He had been very close to the starting XI before the World Cup in the United States.

In late August he took the ceremonial kick-off at Reims, his formative club. The 24-year-old then extended his recovery at Clairefontaine in September before returning to Liverpool to continue treatment.

In recent days Ekitike travelled to the United States to consult a specialist. He is on schedule and is able to jog, although this injury makes recovery timelines uncertain and dependent on how he feels.

He still envisages resuming around November, with competitive minutes possibly in December.
