Corinthians goalkeeper Hugo Souza is on Brazil’s provisional list and could be called up by Carlo Ancelotti for the next Fifa window, due between 21 September and 6 October.

According to Meu Timao, midfielder Breno Bidon, 21, is also among the 50 preselected. Ancelotti will announce 26 names at 15:00 on Wednesday 9 September for Brazil’s first friendlies since the World Cup.

Since taking charge in May 2025, Ancelotti has named Hugo in five of his six squads. In March 2026 he was added only after Alisson Becker withdrew with a muscle injury. He did not make the World Cup squad, with Alisson, Ederson of Fenerbahçe of Türkiye and Weverton preferred.

Despite regular calls, Hugo has started only once, the 3-2 defeat to Japan on 14 October. With a new cycle towards the 2028 Copa América and 2030 World Cup, he is aiming for a bigger role and possibly the starting shirt.

After two thigh problems and a left-shoulder issue in 2025, 2026 has been injury free. He felt knee strain in late August during training, but no injury was detected. Signed in July 2024, he quickly became Corinthians’ first choice.

Hugo has 134 appearances and three trophies with the club, including key roles in the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil and the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil. Brazil face Australia in Brisbane on 25 and 29 September at 07:00, then India in Kolkata on 3 October at 11:00.
