Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has updated on his side’s injuries after kicking off the season with a huge 2-0 win over Manchester United.

The Tigers were underdogs on their return to the Premier League, but two first half goals saw them stun Michael Carrick’s side.

However, it was not quite a perfect afternoon for Jakirovic. Both goalscorers, Nobel Mendy and Semi Ajayi, were forced off in the second half. Lewie Coyle was also withdrawn with an issue.

“It was not the plan,” explained the Hull boss. “We made four substitutions in the defensive line.

“I don’t know, after medical check I will know much more. Ajayi was complaining about his hamstring and Nobel on adductor.

“Coyle always with his ankles. That is normal.

“Maybe we will bring some new players again. We have ten days to go, we will see. It depends on their problems.”

On their remaining transfer plans, he added: “Two strikers, two wingers, one or two midfielders. It will be busy.”

Summer signing Hidemasa Morita was also absent from the match day squad, but is expected to be back soon.

“He had training today,” explained Jakirovic. “It was better for him. He will be ready for the Stoke game.”

The victory was an emphatic result for Hull, who entered the season as relegation favourites.

Jakirovic reflected: “It feels excellent, I’m very happy. Very, very pleased with them.

“It’s a big boost for us, for the future. I have to convince my players that we are capable to play on this level. We showed last season we are mentally strong and can compete with everyone. Maybe this is the key.”
