Premier League newcomers Hull City are interested in signing highly rated Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek.
According to the Daily Mail Sport, the recently promoted Tigers are at the forefront of a long line of clubs aiming to lure the Czech Republic international away from Old Trafford following his standout individual campaign on loan.
Hull will face competition from fellow newly promoted sides Coventry City and Ipswich Town, as well as a persistent Bristol City, where Vitek spent the previous campaign.
The goalkeeper enjoyed a sensational spell at Ashton Gate, sweeping the club’s post-season awards by winning Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, and Players’ Player of the Year.
The sudden scramble for Vitek’s services has been accelerated by the player’s personal stance on his development. The young goalkeeper has formally stated that he does not wish to remain at Old Trafford as a back-up option.
Following the successful integration of first-choice shot-stopper Senne Lammens, Vitek’s pathway to meaningful senior minutes under Michael Carrick appears completely blocked for the foreseeable future.
With just two years left on his contract, the 22-year-old is prioritising a permanent move to a club where he is guaranteed to be first choice.
While Manchester United highly value the player’s potential and would ideally prefer a structured loan agreement, they accept that his firm stance makes a permanent sale the likeliest outcome.
As Hull City register their interest in Vitek, Manchester United are already surveying the market for an experienced goalkeeper to provide cover for Lammens, with early inquiries for veteran options including Wolves’ Sam Johnstone and Leeds United’s Karl Darlow.
