Hull City complete double deal and close in on more signings | OneFootball

Hull City have completed the signings of defenders Lucas Herrington and Nobel Mendy as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

Herrington joins from Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids, while Mendy arrives from Spanish La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano.

The two defenders have both committed their futures to Hull as the club look to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.

Herrington joins the Tigers for a fee believed to be around £17m, including add-ons, after making the move from Colorado Rapids.

“I’m buzzing to be here,” Herrington said. “It’s a great project and a great club to be a part of. I’m so excited to be here. 

“The opportunity to play in the Premier League, one of the best leagues in the world, is a dream come true. I’ve woken up at all hours in the morning in Australia to watch these games. To be a part of it is so special. “

Mendy, meanwhile, arrives from Rayo Vallecano for a club record fee of £20m.

“I have wanted to play in the Premier League since I was little, so it’s a great challenge to face and I am ready for it,” Mendy said.

“This season is going to be a good season, and we will all be in it together.”

The double deal represents another busy spell of recruitment for Hull, which is set to continue.

They are also closing in on the signings of forward Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United and Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath.

Those two deals are expected to be followed by more signings at the club too before the window shuts.

Augsburg midfielder Mert Komur is also believed to be a target, while Hull boss Sergej Jakirović has confirmed the club’s interest in Everton’s Tim Iroegbunam.
