Hull City beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in Hull on Saturday to rise from sixth to fourth in the Championship.

The spot kick followed a handball by Nathaniel Phillips in the box during first half stoppage time. Oliver McBurnie converted in the seventh minute of first half stoppage time.

After the restart, Ivor Pandur saved Karlan Ahearne-Grant's low effort (49.) as West Bromwich Albion pressed for an equaliser.

Alfie Gilchrist was sent off for violent conduct (75.), leaving the visitors with 10 men.

Substitute David Babajide saw a close-range attempt blocked (78.) as Hull looked to close the game out.

Hull registered 10 attempts and found the target once, the decisive penalty. West Bromwich Albion had 57.4% possession and 13 attempts, but tested Pandur only once.
