Germany and Borussia Dortmund legend Mats Hummels is finally due to make his first appearance for Roma on Thursday evening when the Giallorossi take on Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League.
The 2014 World Cup winner joined Roma as a free agent at the beginning of September after a summer off following the expiry of his contract with Dortmund. He has signed a one-year contract with a reported option for a second worth a rumoured €3m per year in wages.
Due to a summer without pre-season training, however, Hummels has taken a while to get up to full match fitness.
He is still yet to make an appearance in any competition for Roma since joining on September 2. He was included among the substitutes for the 1-0 loss at home to Inter in Serie A over the weekend, but Mario Hermoso came on instead of him.
Hummels said himself in a recent interview that he expects to earn his Giallorossi debut against Dynamo Kyiv. Sky Sport DE pundit Patrick Berger, as well as Sky Sport Italia now confirm that the 35-year-old will get his debut on Thursday night.
