Omari Hutchinson has revealed that Ruben Amorim was instrumental in his move to Milan, explaining that the Rossoneri coach was impressed by him after seeing him play against Manchester United.

The 22-year-old was officially presented as a Milan signing at the club’s Flagship Store on Via Dante in Milan.

Asked how the opportunity to join Milan came about, Hutchinson said: “The manager wanted me, I think he spoke to the people above, they were very interested as well.

“It was kind of easy, because I played against him for the United game, I think he was really impressed with me. He said they needed a player for that position who was left-footed and I fit the criteria, so it wasn’t too hard.”

Hutchinson: ‘Amorim said I impressed him’

Hutchinson also discussed the goal he scored against Amorim’s side, with his further comments translated from Italian source MilanNews.it.

“Yes, I remember the goal. As I said before, in my first game against Amorim I did well. He said I impressed him and I think that is very important. Since I arrived, he has helped me a lot and speaks to me often. He has been really exceptional with me.”

The former Arsenal and Chelsea prospect was then asked whether he prefers scoring or providing assists.

“It depends. Sometimes I like making assists, it gives me joy, but scoring also gives me confidence. So I would say both. You need to do both: to become a better player, you have to be able to do everything, so I try to do it as much as possible.”
