‘I am very sorry…’: Man Utd star speaks out after MEN journo confirms growing ‘tension’ behind the scenes

Benjamin Sesko has spoken directly to Slovenia fans to confirm that he will be unavailable for the team’s upcoming fixtures.

The Manchester United forward is said to have suffered a re-aggravation of the shin injury that was causing him problems throughout his maiden campaign at Old Trafford.

Sesko took to Instagram this morning to address the speculation over his rumoured absence, saying: “I am very sorry that I will have to miss the national team’s upcoming matches.

“I have always played for Slovenia – and always will – with heart and pride. Right now, the most important thing is to focus fully on my recovery. I am already working on getting back on the pitch as soon as possible to help both the national team and my club once again.

“I believe in our guys, and I am convinced that this time, too, they will display the team spirit that has always defined us. I can’t wait to wear the national team jersey again; until then, I will be Slovenia’s biggest fan. Go Slovenia!”

Sesko’s record for Slovenia

Meanwhile, Manchester Evening News journalist Tyrone Marshall revealed on Monday that there has been growing ‘tension’ between United and the Slovenia team regarding the striker’s fitness.

Sesko has not featured for his nation in 11 months, and that streak will now be extended until at least mid-November.

Of course, United’s priority is ensuring he’s fit for when they resume their action after the three-week break.

The 23-year-old missed out against Fulham on Sunday after pulling up with some pain following the midweek defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Sesko is still awaiting his first Premier League start of the term, despite being the only out-and-out No.9 in Michael Carrick’s ranks.
