Things are pretty bleak for Chelsea right now, but a lot better for Axel Disasi.
The defender was at a real low point in January, as he progressed through a second season of being in Chelsea’s “bomb squad.” But a move to West Ham on loan has revived his career and their survival chances. In a really nice chat with L’Equipe, he explains how happy he is.
“I am stronger, especially mentally. I have gained experience, but not in football, in life,” the Frenchman mused.
“This experience helps me with my football. I play differently. I can take a step back from things, and I am a lot calmer. I didn’t fear for my career, but you still ask yourself a lot of questions. Why is this happening to me now? Will I manage to come back? Will I get back to playing for a club that is at the level of my ambitions? I asked myself questions, but only for two or three weeks, no more. I quickly stopped because it was taking up all of my energy. I needed to move forward.”
We’re so glad he has.
Disasi also hit back at some of his critics in the same interview, pointing out that some people had been doubting whether he’d be able to get back to his best quickly after so long out.
There’s a lot of talk about Chelsea’s team news for today’s game being leaked, but we’re not sure it’s not just guesswork.
