The City midfielder came on as a late substitute to bring down the curtain on a 19-year career in the game, ending on a high to complete the perfect fairy tale.

After scoring in the 80th minute against West Ham in our Barclays Women’s Super League finale, the 35-year-old helped us to complete the Double following our 4-0 win at Wembley.

Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, Alex Greenwood, Aoba Fujino and Vivianne Miedema fired home to seal a memorable victory.

Coombs has spent the last seven years at Manchester City, winning the FA Cup and League Cup in 2020 and 2022 respectively, and has now added two more trophies to her cabinet.

But after a career of incredible moments and milestones, Laura has now decided it’s time to close this chapter in her story.

“I couldn’t have hoped for a better ending, and this result here at Wembley is the stuff of dreams,” Coombs began.“I’m so happy I’ve had the journey that I have had to witness the rise of Women’s football.”

The 35-year-old bows out after helping us win our first domestic double and leaves with a lasting legacy at the Club both on and off the pitch.

Laura Coombs came on as an 85th minute substitute replacing goal scorer ‘Khadija’ Bunny Shaw to a massive cheer from the City faithful.

“I’m so proud to be leaving the game at this moment, and I’m just excited to keep watching in the future and become a fan,” she added.“I’m just having such a good time today. My teammates are just so positive, so happy and just a blast to be around and I’m loving it.”
